ART NOUVEAU
Art Nouveau was most popular from 1890 to 1905. Characteristics of the style include organic forms (especially inspired by plants and flowers), simple or natural furniture, many curves that can be very abrupt and unexpected, removal of clutter from rooms, stained glass, and uninterrupted lines with syncopated rhythm (
Wiki Art Nouveau). The colors common to this style were very light. New paint colors were being created that were paler, and the artists attempted to use these light colors in order to resist the Victorian style of the era that utilized many dark colors and drapes. (
