Puerto Rico

I also went on a trip to Puerto Rico this summer! Old San Juan was absolutely amazing with the whole city being surronded by a really old fort ( El Morro I think). I couldn’t get over how all the buildings in the city were painted awesome, unique colors! Here are some pictures:)

I spent a couple days in New York City to see a Yankees game this summer, but that was definitely not enough! I could spend hours on end walking around the city and looking at all the amazing buildings and shops. I really hope to go back soon!

ART NOUVEAU
Art Nouveau was most popular from 1890 to 1905. Characteristics of the style include organic forms (especially inspired by plants and flowers), simple or natural furniture, many curves that can be very abrupt and unexpected, removal of clutter from rooms, stained glass, and uninterrupted lines with syncopated rhythm (Wiki Art Nouveau). The colors common to this style were very light. New paint colors were being created that were paler, and the artists attempted to use these light colors in order to resist the Victorian style of the era that utilized many dark colors and drapes. (Ideas for Home Decorating). These light colors included gold, green, biege, silver, and some maroon (Wiki Answers). A famous building created in this style was Uraguay's Montevideo in South America (Visual Arts Cork).

Famous Interior Designer

Sandra Nunnerly works for, and started, Sandra Nunnerly Incorporated. Previously, she worked at the Marlborough Gallery and then L.S.K. Sandra Nunnerly first trained as an architect at Sydney University, then studied fine arts in Paris and London, and is currently working. Her work has been featured in "Architectural Digest," the "World of Interiors," and many other publications. W magazine called her one of the most fashionable designers in N.Y., and she was featured in the "Architectural Digest's" prestigious AD 100 list. Sandra's style combines fashionable and classic to construct designs that are both current and timeless. Her projects include a penthouse at the Sherry- Netherland in New York City, a Norman-Style house in Greenwich, Connecticut, and a residence on Fifth Avenue overlooking New York's Central Park Zoo. I am inspired by Sandra's use of warm colors and fascinated by the contrast she creates using pieces that are modern with ones that are not. Her designs are all very soothing and her rooms create an overwhelming sense of unity. Everything in her spaces flow very well. I admire how well she blends the aspects of her designs together and aspire to do the same with mine.
